We are re-open – with changes!

We are thrilled to announce that, starting May 19th, we are able to resume regular hours of operation. Your safety is of the upmost importance and we have made several modifications to both the office and the delivery of your optometric care to minimize the risks associated with close physical distancing. All of us have been busy preparing our office to ensure that we can operate in an environment that is safe for our patients, our staff, and our doctors.

The following procedures will be effect:

  • • Plexiglass dividers have been installed at check in counters for extra safety. Hand sanitizer will be provided when entering the office and at multiple stations.
  • • Face masks or face shields must be worn by our patients, staff members, and doctors at all times where safe social distancing is not possible. We can provide one if you forget or don’t have one.
  • • The office will be closed for lunch and cleaning from 12:30-1:30.
  • • The common areas, exam room, dispensary station and anything else that you encounter was just cleaned before your arrival and it will be cleaned right after you leave.
  • • Curb side pick-up service is available for any products including glasses, contact lenses, eye drops, and vitamins. We are offering free local delivery for high risk patients as well.
  • • Home delivery of contact lenses is free of charge. Contact lenses can be ordered from our Order Contact Lenses form.

Changes to your appoinments:

  • Appointments are now needed for all services, even glasses pick-ups. This will allow us to control the number of patients in the office and ensure all frames that were touched are removed for sanitization.
  • • Virtual appointments are available with our doctors if new concerning symptoms develop and can be done to determine if any treatment should be attempted or whether a physical exam is required. These can also be used for prescription renewals over the phone.
  • • If you feel ill, have traveled outside of the Okanagan Valley in the last 2 weeks or have been in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, please stay home. We can do a virtual appointment if there is any immediate concern.
  • • Please come to your appointment alone, if possible. If you are dependent on someone else, please bring only that person with you to your examination.

Thank you for supporting our local business during this difficult time. Thank you for being patient, and for continuing to choose Summerland Optometry for your eye care.
